At Volvo, this transmission hasn`t been available for a long time. They are replaced by 5003666 (our number SCP-06228). With such old cars it is also not clear whether there is already a new steering gear in it. Volvo had supplied a conversion kit.
To recognize these old steering racks, see if 3 screws at the entrance of the spindle in the gear housing were installed. The new steering racks have no lids. Also Important is the spindle diameter, because there are spindles with 14 mm and 19 mm in diameter.
A replacement of old against the new steering gear is possible only with a different steering column and other attachments on the axle!
